Op donderdag 19 april ontvangt Odido vijftig meiden van het Maris College. In het kader van Girlsday komt jong, vrouwelijk talent workshops volgen en meedoen met een IoT-project. Simona Gijsbertse, Customer Contact Advisor, is initiatiefneemster van deze dag. <\/p>

\u201cOdido doet graag mee aan Girlsday”, vertelt Gijsbertse. “Dat is een landelijk initiatief om meiden op jonge leeftijd kennis te laten maken met exacte vakken, techniek en ict.<\/p>\n

De groep meiden volgt op Girlsday<\/a> onder andere een workshop over het opzetten van hun eigen bedrijf. Ook nemen zij deel aan een bijzonder IoT-project: ze plaatsen sensoren in plantenbakken, zodat ze temperatuur, licht en vocht kunnen meten.<\/p>\n

De groep zit op het Technasium – de technische variant van het gymnasium – van het Maris College uit Scheveningen.\u00a0Onze CEO\u00a0S\u00f8ren Abildgaard ontvangt de meiden, die tussen de twaalf en vijftien jaar oud zijn.<\/p>\n

Werknemers van de toekomst<\/h2>\n

Gijsbertse vervolgt: \u201cDit kunnen zomaar toekomstige werknemers van Odido zijn. Wij juichen dit soort initiatieven dan ook van harte toe, want als bedrijf hebben we er baat bij dat voldoende jongeren een exacte studie gaan volgen. Op exacte opleidingen zijn mannen nog altijd in de meerderheid, de vraag naar jonge vrouwen met een technische opleiding zal alleen maar toenemen. Want in de toekomst dreigt er een algemeen tekort aan ict’ers, vanwege alle technologische ontwikkelingen.”<\/p>\n

Future Lab<\/h2>\n

Gijsbertse nam een aantal maanden geleden het voortouw voor een activiteit tijdens Girlsday 2018. “Ik kwam in contact met Ewout Karel van ons Future Lab<\/a> en hij vertelde hoe Odido start-ups ondersteunt met de laatste technologische ontwikkelingen. Ik bedacht ter plekke dat we de volgende generatie nu al hierbij moeten betrekken.”<\/p>\n

Ze benaderde het Maris College en die\u00a0reageerde direct enthousiast. Samen koppelden ze het idee van Gijsbertse aan Girlsday en bezoeken de vijftig meiden volgende week het hoofdkantoor van Odido.<\/p>\n

Tot grote tevredenheid van Gijsbertse: “Dit project behoort zeker niet tot mijn dagelijkse werkzaamheden, maar ik vind het wel heel gaaf dat ik hierbij betrokken ben gebleven.”<\/p>\n
